The thing that comes to mind is that the blinginess of the Race Mesh might look unbalanaced against the rest of the facade, drawing more attention to the lower section. Also, the Race Mesh is a tighter mesh than the stock piece. Perhaps if they had a brushed finish it would blend in better while looking just a little different/better than the OEM plastic piece.

Yeah - very good point. I don't think chrome is the answer either, but I believe a few different finishes would be possible. I think something maybe black-annodized would look good (especially on my black sapphire X) - perhaps maching the black-chrome OEM tail pipes would make it a bit more understated & classy looking...
