Not in 2001, It was 1.10 when I was 15 which was in the early 90's. Gas prices didn't hit an all time high, oil per barrel did. These are two very different things because all oil is not refined to gasoline. Please remember you are also in the peak driving season of summer now and the marketing/sales and econ departments of Shell, Exxon/Mobil, BP and others will take advantage of America's need to move. Also, having an on going war take a ton of fuel as well (just look up the MPG of a Bradley or Abrams and you'll see).
If you really give a rats @ss about gas prices, write congress about why we are not pushing, with full force, alternative fuels like E85 and other bio-mass fuels....why are we waiting till 2015 for this type of production....
And if you don't write congress and vote about this then don't discuss it, you lose the privelage....at least in the states.
