Yes, I just hate that law. It's double and triple and quadruple taxation on the same thing. They do because they can, that's how they justify that! Unfortunately there is no way around it.

Except..... here in California, if you are an out of state owner of a car for 12 months, then bring it into CA, then you can escape the sales tax. So one can technically setup a company that buys the car from a no sales tax state, register it there, and then eventually bring it into CA, and avoid all sales taxes. But sometimes the hassle just isn't worth it! Just food for thought.
