You can visit BMW bluetooth site to check for compatibility or look on the homepage here under cellphone.

If its not there then BMW havent tested it but it may be compatible if you have it just pair it to your car or ask the shop to try their demo on it, you can then delete it.

I know on another thread someone is having difficulty with their Samsung 900. My sharp 902 wouldnt even pair up let alone allow just hands free. I use the Nokia 623-i that is fully compatible.

In respect of SMS that is only available on the bluetooth phone preparation option and not on the bluetooth telematics option which is what you get in the comms pack as well on its own. You can get limited SMS through BMW assist on certain phones.
