I disagree with the article and I agree with lbeats2001. I have an 01 X5 4.4 w/67K miles. I am the 3rd owner and bought it w/47K miles. The following is what I've had to replace:

Front driver-side window regulator - 47K miles
Coolant Level Sensor - 65K miles
Both front outer CV boots - 65K miles
Front right control arm bushing - 65K miles
Differential Seals - 65K miles
Power Steering pump seals - 65K miles

Luckily, I bought the extended warranty and it almost paid for itself on that one trip. Personally, I don't think that's too bad for a vehicle w/67K miles. Other than that, just basic maintenance stuff (brake pads/rotors, oil & filter, etc.).
