Our 3.0i is a 01/01 production date X5. Honestly, while it was under factory warranty, the thing went in at least once in 2 months, if not more frequently. Basically have hadEVERY common X5 problem except for the window regulators. The only powertrain repairs were waterpump + thermostat, cam sensor. Somehow, from the point of a few months before the factory warranty expired till now, it's only gone in once or twice for non-maintenance work. Most of those bugs just got worked out..

Really, I'm amazed that we got let off so easily in terms of quality issues. Not only was it a very early production of the model, it was built in a brand-new factory. Between brand-new design engineering and unexperienced (a new plant) assembly force, I think they did fine.
