And it appears that I'll have to buy some other parts, as stated above. I understand about the full bluetooth retrofit that you sell, Tom, but I guess I fail to see the big diff. between buying your kit and making your own?
Bad news - that is a TCU module, not Bluetooth. It cannot be used with a bluetooth installation.

Keep in mind that the BMW parts counter has a parts freeze on all generations of ULF modules until all the 1st Generations are sold. If you get one at a parts counter - chances are they are the old 1st Gen modules, these are not recommended for use - they ceased production of these models in 6/03.

The 1st Generation modules do not offer SMS Text Messaging (if your carrier supports it) or Notepad features. If you have Navigation, a 1st Generation module will not offer voice navigation. The new 9th Generation modules started about a month ago - get the newest technology you can for the price. We even include the new 2nd Generation microphones with the kits which offer better noise cancellation and audio quality.

For something of this caliber - make sure you are getting the most up to date equipment for your vehicle. Getting an over-the-counter kit with the 1st Generation ULF is equivalent to buying a tape player for your X5. It's already obsolete.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.
