I think that society is obsessed with political correctness and is too quick to villify anyone who says anything that might ruffle a single feather. It's so knee jerk nowadays it's just absurd and so-called minority rights activists are the first ones to pounce, like vultures on a fresh kill. Unfortunately, it usually for some gain seperate and apart from advancing societal awareness, fostering racial relations, or educating the general public.
There is so much to be said for context and intent but there is no opportunity to explain it. Heck, it shouldn't always have to be explained.
