Putting 2004 headlights into a 2001 requires more then just swapping the headlight units. You also need to replace the hood, fenders, and front bumper cover (aka, the "facelift").
Unless you are seeking to do the complete facelift of your X5, the more economical solution would be to retrofit Angel Eyes into your current headlights at the same time you are doing the Halogen to Xenon conversion.
