I experienced the E39 drop first-hand, when I sold my '00 M5 this past December. The E38 story was just a little bit different, however, as at least during the initial MY02 period the E38s were showing a 2-3K
increase at auction. Once the E65 shock and awe factor wore off, I know the E38s showed a more typical changeover decline.
