Good recs above. I "lived" at the Intercontinental Centre at 225 Front St. West for 8 months or so when I worked in Toronto. It has an indoor heated pool, concierge, and a good restaurant and lounge. The CN tower is nearby and the Hockey Hall of Fame is about 1km away. If you're an SNL fan, The Second City is also a short walk from the hotel. There's another Intercontinetal in not far away in Yorkville, (I think that's the one on Bloor as Bavarian mentioned) which is a very nice part of town.
