There is a fix for some early Icelinks that involves moving the ground wire in the harness. If yours was recently made it's unlikely that's the issue.

The X5 is the electrically noisest car I've worked on. There is SO much EMI around the CD changer area, from cables, modules, even the grounding bracket back there emits a lot of EMI.

If your grounding wires are right, then I'd try moving the Icelink module and as much cable as you can (if you have any extra in the storage compartment) away from the fender. There is a metal bracket on that fender that is evil.

If moving the Icelink helps, then I'd see if Tom G has a cable to plug in the Icelink at the tuner module instead of at the CD changer harness. He might have a few left.
