I can sympathize with the issues you are dealing with. This problem should not have happened. I'm sure it cost you plenty in repairs since your X5 is probably not in warranty anymore. But considering it a blessing that we know now your new indie mechanic doesn't have a clue. He's not someone you want working on your X5.
