What I do have wondered is that when you roll and slow down let's say for stop sign, and do the lazy stop without don't stop completely, then quickly press the acc pedal to move on, the tranny engages in a bit harsh way. It's as if it had disengaged the gear and then all of the sudden realizes that we're going again....

I feel this too. What I believe it is, is the tranny normally wants to start you off in second gear if you don't come to a complete stop. However, if you push the pedal down hard enough, the tranny downshifts to first and this is what you are feeling...
