It's a trend these days. The same is happening with LCD panels.
For instance, the average street-price for a 19" computer LCD was $325 last year. Today you can get a 19" LCD for just around $250-270.
Plus do you remember those crazy days around the year 2000 when you'd land a 15" LCD for $499? LOL!
