I spent a lot of time and effort trying to find a substitute for the "Lifetime Fill" fluid for the GM transmission. I even spoke with a large oil/fluids distributor's fluid engineer and because of BMW's secrecy he would not recommend any of the available fluids other than the OEM. Nobody seems to know just what is in the tranny fluid to make it so special. At least fluid for the the ZF transmissions can be outsourced.
