Maybe BMW has a "loose" calibration for the speedo and other monitoring equipment that are set to somewhere in between the two different diameters???
or maybe it's just a typo. Sometimes it's the simple solution that's correct.

BTW my local BMW dealer has a UK brochure which should be in general circulation over the next couple of weeks. Still no written details on options/prices etc The speculation goes on...
