The 2004 X5 came with the Bluetooth system inoperable. In order to make it functional you have to replace the ULF. If your production date is pre-April 2004 then your only option is to install the Visteon ULF (which means you'll lose Assist). If it is post April-2004 then you can install either the Visteon ULF or the Motorola combo Assist/Bluetooth module from a 2005 nor newer vehicle.
