I get so sad every time I think about it.. So many innocent lives lost. I'll always remember exactly where I was.. I was in 7th grade. I was in Biology class when the planes hit. None of us knew what was going on until later... In Bio, a teacher came in and whispered something into my teacher's ear (A few minutes after the first plane hit). He got a suprised look on his face.. All of us in the class assumed some other student had gotten in some huge amount of trouble. A while later in English class, another teacher came in to tell my teacher, I assume, that a second plane had hit. I remember that it dawned on us that something big had happened, because my english teacher's eyes got so wide.. And she said "How bad is it?".. At lunch, they made an announcement. We were all to go into the auditorium. Once we were all sitting, my principal made the announcement. I still remember everything he said. He said "I have to tell you something. I've been going back and forth all day, debating whether or not I should tell you this. But I decided that this is so major, there will be no avoiding it. You'll hear about it when you get home anyway." I was assuming that they'd cured cancer. Then he continued. "Early this morning, several planes were hijacked after takeoff. A little before 9 AM, one of them flew into one of the towers of the World Trade Center in New York. A little while later, the other tower was hit. Another plane flew into the Pentagon." I remember when he said the Pentagon was hit, I was terrified.. I didn't know how bad the attack was, for all I knew the whole government was wiped out. He told us that the towers collapsed.. After the assembly we went back to class and just talked about the attacks for the rest of the day, with our teachers giving us news updates they got off the internet.. I remember running to my mom's car after school and getting in and giving her a big hug.. I cried the whole drive home because of the news I was hearing over the radio.
