BMW Tire Rotation policy--not covered?

Took my 2005 X3 in two weeks ago and asked a very laid back, top notch service rep (Erhard BMW) about tire rotation. I asked him because I have traditionally rotated tires every 7-10K, but BMW services its warranty vehicles every 15K. Here was his response:

"I would recommend rotating your tires, but BMW's position is to NOT rotate tires, and replace them two at a time."

I don't know about all of you, but I have noticed significant ride quality loss when driving with an old and new set of tires on the same vehicle--sometimes shaking in the steering wheel occurs, not to mention traction inconsistencies.

Does anyone's dealer recommend differently? Is the iDrive system easier on front tires, and there is no need to rotate? Your thoughts?
