More than half of the detainees who were being held at Camp X-Ray have been released over the past 2 years with all charges against them being dropped, an obvious admission that they were being held by mistake. So do not assume they are terrorists. Many of them (or perhaps most of them) are innocent.

Take a look at the income tax rate over the years for the highest tax bracket:

Looks to me like the highest rates since WWII were during the Eisenhower Administration (a Republican) when the wealthiest Americans paid 91% in taxes. It also looks like the highest Capital Gains tax rates since WWII were during the Nixon & Ford Administrations (both Republicans) when the Capital Gains tax rate was 36.5%-39.9%.
It looks like the President who lowered the highest income tax rate the most since WWII was LBJ (a Democrat) who lowered the by rate 21%. And it looks like the President who lowered the Capital Gains tax rate the most since WWII was Carter who lowered the rate by 11% (from 39% to 28%).
It would seem that it's the Republicans who like big government, large deficits and high taxes, not the Democrats. |
First, before you start using historical references to party-lines (LBJ/Eisenhower, et al) one can make the case that modern day Republicans were the Democrats of old.
I hardly doubt, that in this day and age, Harry Truman would be labeled a Democrat.
Your historical references on top of your politically devisive flow-chart, while entertaining, do nothing to support your cause. You try to infer that there is a directly proportional link between increasing the national debt and 'big government'. While I'm sure you can make a case or give examples, they absolutely do not go hand in hand.
And seriously...Don't even try to state that a democrat in office automatically equal's lower taxes...Especially a modern day (Kerry/H. Clinton, et al). This would be laughable if it weren't so offensive to ones intelligence. Modern day Democrats (read: NOT Harry Truman; NOT JFK) are the biggest bunch of tax and spend socialists in the history of the free world. It seems to me that everytime the left is criticizing a sitting Republican president, that the economy is doing pretty damned good (Reagan, Bush Jr as examples).
The fringe left continue to be our enemies best friend and human speed bumps as it pertains to our nations war on terror around the world. I'm guaranteeing you that, upon the next democratic administration, we will hardly be doing as well as we are now. Historically, the national debt says nothing about the future health of our country, yet all of you left wing fringe-types lean upon it as 'the resource' or 'the measuring stick' in which to grade a sitting republican administration. Consumer confidence is up; inflation is in check, American's, as a whole, are earning more and are taxed less, unemployment is at least a point or two lower than it was during Clinton's administration and we are fighting a global war on terror...And lest we not forget what your clever flow-chart would look like if we weren't spending billions a month on said-war.
Then what would you have to resort to?
The usual suspects for the left: Rhetoric, diviveness, tax & spend, socialism (under the auspicies of 'democracy of course'), pacificity, expansion of a welfare country and on and on.
Try relying less on hyperbole and bullsh*t as your assets when it comes to governing. And while you are at it, the whole "Bush-lied-people-died" is fu*king tired. I mean, who comes up with these catchy, rhetorical one-liners? Johnny Cochran? You are the party of Michael Moore, Martin Sheen, Cindy Sheehan, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, John Kerry & Hilary Clinton, and the list of degenerate ingrates goes on and on and on.

The lot of you held Reagan in contempt while he was in office. I'd ask you to concede how wrong you all were then, but for the most-part, your party is too arrogant and self-righteous to admit when it is wrong. Criticize Bush all you want, but there hasn't been a president since FDR and Truman, who has been as unswerving and unrelenting in principle as Bush is.
While I don't necessarily agree with every action Bush has taken, he has my unequivocal support as a constituent, a citizen and as an American. I know how history will grade Bush and you left-wing socialist types are entirely predictable: Criticize now, spin later when asked for commentary.
