Can anyone explain why BMW doesn't get the clock setting from the GPS unit ?

ie. Instead of asking you to set the time just ask for your time zone - then the clock would be accurate all the time from GPS satellite information.

The s/w obviously knows if there's a GPS module present so it can still use the current method if you dont have the GPS - so why not ?
