Okay, it also depends on your burner and make sure you have the latest firmware for your DVD/CD Burner.

I used an older Sony DRU-500, with the latest firmware. I have made backup copies of my navigation disc using either DVD-R and DVD+R with no problems. Instead of burning at 4X, I burn it at 2X. Last time I backed up my navigation map disk, I used a TDK 4X DVD+R. I also have used Memorex DVD+R and also TDK DVD-R.

I usually use Roxio software to make the backup copies. I have used an old PC to do so (Pentium III with 1GHz).
