This past Tuesday, while most of you were at work, (and actually
were able to pull yourselves away from this Board, and do "work"!),
theCEO and I jumped in the VetteVert and boogied down the road
toward the southwestern tip of NC. From Robbinsville, we carved
the 2 lane blacktops up to and onto, the Cherohala Skyway, playing
tag with a GTO, (great motor; but a butt ugly, indistinquishable car),
and a KTM and Beamer 1200 RS. (Both guys from JAX,FL!?)
The
Cherohala Skyway may be better than the BlueRidgeParkway, as it's "higher", smoother
and even less travelled.
Then, we motored off the Skyway into the Joyce Kilmer Memorial
Forest: the largest, and one of the last, stands of virgin uncut
hardwood forest in the east. There is an easy couple mile loop
through the forest and it was absolfookinlutley beautiful: a
dark
forest with high canopy of the largest trees in the east: virgin hemlock,
oaks, beech, and the monster tulip poplars. 13,000 acres of "how it
must of looked before anyone was here".

Then, we drove hard and fast over the rest of the Skyway to Tellico
Plains,TN and cruised back east over the mtns on the Tail of the Dragon, through Deal's Gap. It is, imo, a hugely overrated 11 miles, that we have
run a dozensish times, but it was a destination for some late lunch. The roads leading "to" the Gap, eg Rt 129 and then Rt 28 leading away east
back toward Bryson City, are the real deal: no/few cops, well paved, on camber turns, that one can execute as fast as one's nerves and stability control allows for!
A nice 200 mile loop, blew the carbon out,

, got the brakes hot and
took some nice snaps.
It's a very good life, if one doesn't weaken...thanks for reading and
looking. More pics in 2nd post batch, I think, due to space limitations.
