Yes, it will still pick up laser mounted high. How do I know? It went off when a bogie lasered me. Still got a ticket.

Laser protection really only works when the bogie shoots a car in front of you within a limited distance. And lets assume the car in front of you was not speeding and he does not go after them. Well, now you know he's there because your laser went off.

But 9 times out of ten, by the time you know you've been lasered, it's too late.

As far as our X5 goes, we have a Passport SR7 system with the sensor in the bumper. Have gotten hit by laser numerous times with low and medium traffic while speeding. With quick reaction, the X is still ticket free.

The closer the detector sensor is to the bumper, the much better the protection will be as that's where they aim.
