Can you turn off your address book transfer? Or if not, can you delete all of your contacts and try it?

I just got a Pearl, and I imported all of my contacts from my Palm. I had alpha characters and other junk in my phone number fields, and I am pretty sure that this caused the car to drop the connection to the phone during the address book transfer. It worked fine when I turned off my address book transfer on the Pearl. The Blackberry worked great after I did a laborious contact database cleanup.
