According to realoem.com, the prices are $156.24 for the side tail lights and $132.80 for the inner lights for a total of $289.04 per side. The website indicates a core charge which I don't quite understand since the units are not rebuildable.

We are looking for a tail lamp design where the LED lights are well-integrated, similar to the design of the rear lamps found on the E46 BMW 3-series coupe. There is also some interest of "Celis" type rear lamps similar in appearance to the rear lamps of the E39 BMW 5-series sedan.

Appearance should dictate price; I would venture to guess that members would be willing to pay a yet undermined premium over OEM for a well-designed, well-crafted tail light that meets OEM specifications in construction and appearance. However, if the product does not meet expectations, the members would likely not want to pay OEM prices.

I appreciate your interest. There are a couple of other members, besides me, who have been actively pursuing the production of this part so I hope you don't mind if we keep this thread public for now. Who will act as the official coordinator for the group buy remains to be seen - it may be one person or several persons depending on the complexity of the project. If it becomes apparent that we can take this to the next level, we can take it offline when we get to the details.
