I say you just do what the other guys are saying and just check out some guitar tabs. If your a big music guy, try finding some music that sound pretty easy. Then find tabs and work your way up to faster speeds once you get fingerings and things done. Thats what i did. Now i'm learning chords, i hate chords. I don't know why but i just do haha.

I hear ya man, but yea I am practicing cords, and i know A, B, C, D, E, F, G, Em, Am but i have diffculty moviing form cord to cord, i just pause in the middle when moving its hard tho. My fingers are sore but i could care less, its fun!
