Be careful if you get that Active Zone bass. I have a Fender American Deluxe Jazz V that I REMOVED the active preamp. I found that it "colored" the bass sound too much. You can't turn it off or disable it by removing the batteries. I started with new pots and everything and made it passive. Much better! You can find a few people around the web that say the same thing.
I also just bought the Marcus Miller Jazz V. I highly recommend that! If you don't care for the 5 strings, the Marcus 4 is still a very good choice because it also has the active/passive switch. I leave the preamp OFF all the time on my bass.

I used to play an Ibanez SR800 through an Ampeg SVT 3Pro head and 8x10 classic cab. Now I just have the Ibanez an one day I'll get another Ampeg and I really want a Fender American Zone Deluxe (18v active pickups FTMFW). When I win the lottery, I'm getting an Alembec and Sadousky. |
