I fitted a ck7w handsfree kit and also fitted a cable that cuts out the radio/tv/cd etc and uses the stereo speakers.
It was all very straight forward, the cable for cutting out the stereo was an Elan kit and had all the correct plugs so just un plugged the radio connection and plugged it in, followed instructions and then connected the ck7w kit, took a matter of minutes!
The only hassle I had was I did not want to see any cables anywhere so I put the ck7w under the heater/footwell at the front of the car the cable for cutting out the radio is under the spare wheel?
The mic is mounted where the bmw mic would be and the control button is mounted beside the gear lever, no cables showing anywhere.
I have a navman 520 gps fitted into the sun glasses holder so when you open it the sat nav is sitting in the holder, again no cables showing anywhere, I took power from the interior light and fitted a small push button switch inside the holder to turn off the power so the computer does not detect a power drain.
I have also fitted a radar detector which is mounted up beside the mirror so I do not have to take it out and again power taken from interior light so no cables showing anywhere(I hate seeing cables all over the place)
the power cable for the ck7w I had to extend to the front of the car. Other than that really easy, I did not use a cradle as my wife and my two sons also have bluetooth phones.
When you now start the car the radio cuts out for 15 -25 seconds as the phones pair up then and that is it?

My next project will be tv screens on the headrests, already have tv onthe move, got the cables for hooking up xbox and dvd player, just to buy the screens....................
