Yup. I did the same for my 2004. Installation took maybe 30 minutes if that. It's very simple but I read the instructions on bimmernav's website and on this forum too. Did not require a recoding by dealer. The voice recognition can be used on the Nav to manage some of the features (see pic for a summary of commands). I kept the original microphone which came with the BMW assist and it works OK. However, just recently decided to upgrade it since some people have told me they hear background noise when I'm in the X5.
