The lag is the reason you wont see valvetronic on the M3. Good for gas mileage but adds complexity and weight. I personally dont like this tech from BMW. If throttleless was the way to go, you would see it in Formula1 first. The venturi effect of the throttle is paramount in low RPM regime. The short shifting and valvetronic are for the sole purpose of meeting EPA.
If not mistaken, the M3 has one throttle body per cylinder!
Speaking of the M3, anyone else thinking about getting the best M3 ever made before the V8 version takes over.
