The soot build up on the rear is a particular problem if one tows trailers, not necessarily this little one, but I have two larger ones in regular use. The bow wave at the front of the trailer exacerbates the problem and the build up is much worse than that depicted in the pictures, even after a day's use. Since the tips were fitted, no soot. The exhaust is deflected down and dispersed under the trailer. While the visual impact is a bit overwhelming, they do work.
Then again, aesthetics were never my strong point, an acceptable engineering solution always takes precedence
Anyway, maybe the usage of the term "hiddeous" was inferred using reverse psychology, as a geater degree of "sick-ness"
