[QUOTE=NMWX5]The article below says even with more horses on the 2004+ 4.4s than the previous 4.4, the performance did not increase due to the the 6spd gearing. 0-60, and 1/4 mile times dropped.

I wondering if this is really true and my gut feeling is its Not, but I cant prove it. Does anyone have anything to prove it not to be, such as your own comparison.

Quote from article:
But oddly enough, the additional transmission gear and 25 horsepower don't improve the X5's performance. In this test, 60 mph arrived in 7.1 seconds and the quarter-mile flashed by in 15.4 seconds at 92 mph (our long-term 2001 X5 4.4i hit 60 in 6.7 seconds and did the quarter in 15.3 at 90 mph).

Thanks in advance.[/QUOTE

I wouldnt believe all you read! There are major factors to be taken into consideration when performance testing a vehicle.Car options, driver, outside temperature,etc.....Also,not all 4.4 V8s engines produce "exactly " the same power!

Other roadtests show that the facelift 4.4 is indeed faster than the older version!
