You realize this is the locking mechanism for the gas fill door?? You might want to check to see that it is still operating properly. I am in the process of building my own sub box for this space and that is one of the obstacles I have had to work around.

If you have the DSP system one thing you can do is reuse the current sub box (without the stock sub drivers) and fit a 8" sub driver in it. This is what I did. Although I fit a 10" sub in it I would advise to stay with a 8" which is much easier to fit in the stock box. Here is the thread I wrote back a year ago on this mod.
