I actually downloaded the song tag .MP3 files and followed the procedure (or so I thought). I put them on my iPod then:
1. Navigated to the Genre\text_nav.mp3 file and pressed play
2. Immediately hooked up the dock cable with the radio ON and in CD mode
RESULT: IceLink switched the iPod to the previous song it was playing before I unplugged it.

Next, I use the iPod User Interface while it was connected to play the text_nav.mp3 file. Result: It played the 60 second file but then just moved on to the next file named no_text.mp3 (or similar name). It never said DONE or OK TO DISCONNECT. It just played it like a song.

During this process of multiple attempts my iPod seemed to lose its mind a lot and needed a warm boot via the menu+center-button hold-down.
