MD, you don't need HDMI switching if you never plan to run your video sources through your receiver. If I understand your needs, you plan to run the video sources directly to the TV and manually switch inputs on the TV. With only two video sources, that is totally reasonable.
I assume this is what you want to do:
Run DVD video to TV
Run DVD audio to rec'r
Run cable box video to TV
Run cable box audio to rec'r
If that is right, you have no need for HDMI switching.
I suggest Pio 1016 for bang/buck ratio. For under $380 at Onecall.com it is tough to beat for features and sound quality. Google that one or check avsform. There are also several different HK's, Onk's, and Yammy's in the sub $500 bracket that will meet/exceed your needs. Happy shopping
