Interesting and timely, (for me too), thread as we are in
the initial hunt for a laptop. And, thanks for the links, but
I didn't see much diff between the link price and the Dell
ad flyer price, other than shipping.

Like most stuff these days, I am amazed at how quickly the
price escalates when one adds a few "optional" items:
that "$795" 1405 Dell quickly became a 1200 buck plus
item, and I added very few items, (jes'power&mem), and
I am no gamer or techie. Then, the options pages just keep
rolling by, ad nauseum...one could make that "795" model a
$16-$1700 rig in a freakin NY minute.

Sorta the BMW approach to "options", and everyone is
doing it...I "sold" stuff for 30 years and was very good
at selling and managing people; this constant "up sell"
by everyone from the BestBuyPunque to the "Investment
Advisor" is wearing my skinny azz out. Most marketeers
have forgotten how to pitch real Feautures-Advantages-
Benefits, and just wanna pile the gizmos and frills on,
without regard to what one really needs. Rant over...

But, good thread, thanks...I would like to cop a decent
powered notebook, bells & whistles not needed, for
about 8-9 Bens. It doesn't look very viable.
