I read that in a book recently, but I can't remember which book. Maybe Neils can remember. I will have to go back and find it. Remember that whole "only one child per family" thing? Well, in order to have help with the family, if/when a family had a girl, they (sadly, and unfortunately) mostly gave up the girl. This is why there are millions of Chinese girls in orphanages waiting to be adopted (and why you see so many adopted Chinese girls in America). What has happened is that the ratio of women-to-men will be heavily skewed toward the female side.
