Thanks for replying to that wheelman. I mean, that's what worked for me having similar symptoms, that doesn't mean it going to work for every X5 out there.

Back to topic: I still bearly hear the whinning after changing out the aux. pump, but it's alot less noticeable then it was, so I would say that the aux. water pump wasn't the ONLY source of the problem, BUT my pump was amplifying the noise quite a bit.

The noise WAS coming from the aux. water pump though. To check, turn engine off, and climate fan on to low speed (one notch is enough to turn the pump on). Then open hood. The whinning noise is from behind the driver side head light (aux. water pump location). If you can't hear, then try different heat settings (mine whines at medium heat, about 22 degrees C).

Now there must be something else oscillating the pump (noise going up and down). I beleive it's the heater valve opening and closing (if you touch the heater valve you can feel it click open and closed). My question is, is it normal for the heater valve to do this?

Someone hear said the the dealer told them it was the aux pump AND the heater valve to be replaced?

Again, just my situation...
