To replace tie-rod ends you do not need to be a mechanic expert. The only non-standard tool you will need is a tie rod end puller. That can be purchased or rent for $10 or so at almost any auto shop. The puller will make the job much easier to get the worn tie rod out. Do not forget to get an alignment after that.
