Correct. If a monthly lease price is say $499 and the dealer asks for say $3600 down on a 36 month lease, they basically just jumped your monthly to $599. It's absurd. They'll also try to build the $3600 back into the lease if you object to it, so make sure you agree on the price of the vehicle before you start talking about the financing. Until the final price is agreed, your answer to the salesman about how you want to finance it should always be "i don't know yet, let's just agree on the price".
