I was lucky enough to see him perform at MSG a few years ago as part of an encore for the Dave Matthews Band, and he was absolutely phenomenal. Sad news, especially on Christmas day. Ironic, isn't it, that the man who gave so much to music and artists of today died during the season of giving.
