I don't think the E70 is ugly by any means and in fact had I not seen a E53 and the E70 was the first X5 I saw, I would like it. IMO I like the more masculine look of the E53, I also like the interior better in the E53...and this is why. I loved the soft and beautiful interior of Nappa leather in my E46 M3 BUT it looked too good, I was always afraid of ripping the leather or damaging the interior. In the X5 it feels much more "usable" to me.
