I think most turntables sold today (the few that are!) are pretty quiet as far as rumble specs etc. The important piece is getting a quality cartridge setup.
I use an old Pioneer direct-drive turntable (I think it was the first direct drive Pioneer made and it is overdesigned

) with a modern cartridge to transcribe old records to digital. I do it mostly for some older songs for my show, but I also transcribe one-offs for paying customers too!
I'll have to look at it tonight and get the specs off it - I don't remember off the top of my head.
