- No really... I own turntables.. Two of them and a mixer. Although there are a number of good options out there, listen to what JV said..

In Particular, the turntable you need to get is the TECHNICS SL-1200
It is the industry standard. Almost every night club uses them. They are as solid and dependable as it gets !!! Of course there are some other "plastic" feeling turntables.. But I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, trade in my technics for ANYTHING else. If there were a nuclear war, the only thing that would survive is coakroaches and the SL-1200

In all seriousness though. They also retain their value better than any other deck. Have a great "feel" to them and look nice.. You can get it in silver (the american model) or black (the euro model) which comes with a u.s. currency adapter. I opted for the black. Have had them almost ten years and have never skipped a beat.
