This Laptop will not travel, will mainly be used as a spare laptop (there are already 4 desktops plus my personal T43 Thinkpad at home) by my wife and kids to do basic tasks so it does not justify the $200 difference. I had bad experience with cheap HP and Compaq before and will not got with these brands anymore.

I hear what you are saying. I actually got the Office Depot cheap Compaq special for my 9-year old to play with and it does everything pretty well. The best part is that now when he gets viruses on his computer, it's not on mine anymore
It has the same spec as the Acer at a sustantially lower price.
