what is VM?

the drives are both internal SATA/150 hd's:

DRIVE C: 300 GB
DRIVE D: 500 GB

so i'm thinking (now) of doing this:

split C into 50GB and 250GB partitions; the 50 for Vista (the OS and virtual memory pagefile) and the 250 for apps

use D only for data
