in your x5, there is a similar workaround, if you have the mid-console computer. when you park, you disable the engine with a code. when you come back to the car, even though you rotate the key to position 3 (whichever is for ignition), the engine won't start until you enter the code. however, once you enter the code, the engine starts right away without the need for you to rotate the key again.
OK, now I'm really confused. I understand you can create a code so nobody can start the car w/out it, but what do you mean the car will start without turning the key? So, if I set this up correctly, if I just insert the key it will start???

As my X5 is today, I just turn the key and let it go...it will crank until it starts. Are you all saying I can just "push a button" and it will start? Someone please clear this up for idiots like me that can't seem to comprehend this thread.
