X5 turned 147K miles & now has DICE HD & Sirius!! Big props to Tom G!!
Thanks to Tom G/EAS, he brought my 2001 X5 to the latest audio options!!
Previously, my audio source was either FM/AM, cassette tape, and CD-Changer.
We got spoiled by Sirius satellite in our other car.
So, I wanted to retrofit Sirius and add an iPod interface. Glad I waited because now DICE released the iPod/HD interface.
Well, Tom G had his work cut out yesterday, but he got it done.
I lost my in-dash cassette player (didn't mind that) and CD-Changer.
Gained a new updated BMW/Alpine OEM radio with in-dash CD changer. Since I had digital DSP, I needed the DSP adaptor and Tom G had to run a cable from the radio to the a DSP adaptor at the left rear corner.
Gained a Gen2 BMW Sirius Sat receiver and located at the OEM place.
Gained iPod adaptor and HD Radio via DICE.
The FM HD stations sounded like CD-quality (even better than Sirius).
Also, I originally had a RF modulator for my sound source for the Alpine DVD-player & Alpine TV tuner. Replaced the RF modulator signal via the DICE-HD AUX input.
Tom G. did fix my radio antenna problem which a previous installer had hacked up. So, even my regular FM/AM radio sounds even better.
Anyhow, thanks to Tom G for the install. Pics will come later....too busy enjoying the new BMW audio system.
